Our Go-To Tips for Gorgeous Arrangements & Long-Lasting Blooms

Let’s Talk Shape: Arranging 101

Round Floral Arrangements
If you’re going for a classic, full look, round is the way to go. I usually start with a hard foam or a floral frog for support. Pick five flowers of the same length, these will help set the height and the edges of your design. Then, fill in the gaps with flowers of the same length, making sure you’re keeping things nice and balanced. Tuck in some greenery to round it out (literally!).

Triangular Floral Arrangements
This one gives a bit more drama and structure. I like to use three key flowers to mark the triangle: two the same height, and a slightly taller one in the middle. The rest of the blooms get spaced out within that shape, and I love adding some berries or leaves for little pops of texture.

Irregular Triangular Arrangements

This is where things get a little wild—and I love it. Start with one tall stem (2–3x the height of your vase), then one that’s about two-thirds that height, and one that’s even shorter—just a third or so. You’ll create this beautifully offbeat look. I like to use a bold, firm leaf at the base to create a smooth transition from vase to bloom, then soften the structure with some delicate foliage.

Our Top 10 Tips for Cut Flowers That Last

We all want our bouquets to last as long as possible, right? Here are some simple habits I follow that make a big difference:

  1. Let them drink up first
Keep your flowers in their packaging and place them in fresh, clean water for a bit before arranging. They’ll perk right up!
  2. Clean vase = happy flowers
Always start with a sparkling-clean vase. Residue from old arrangements can shorten your flowers' lifespan.
  3. Use flower food
That little packet that comes with your bouquet? It works! Just follow the instructions and don’t overdo it.
  4. Snip the stems
Before arranging, cut about an inch off each stem on a sharp diagonal. It helps them absorb water better.

Hope these tips inspire you to play with petals and get creative with your own arrangements. Whether you're styling a centrepiece or just enjoying a bunch on your kitchen counter, flowers have a way of brightening every corner of life.

Happy arranging! 🌷
